Eddie Murphy

Edward Regan Murphy (born April 3, 1961) is an American comedian, actor, writer, singer, director, and musician.

Murphy first earned attention as a regular actor at Saturday Night Live (SNL), and was credited with helping revitalize the series during the early 1980s. He has received Golden Globe Award nominations for his performances in 48 Hrs., Beverly Hills Cop series, Trading Places, and The Nutty Professor. In 2007, he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of soul singer James "Thunder" Early in Dreamgirls.

Eddie Murphy's work as a voice actor includes Thurgood Stubbs in The PJs, Donkey in the Shrek series and the Chinese dragon Mushu in Disney's Mulan. In some of his films, he plays multiple roles in addition to his main character, intended as a tribute to one of his idols Peter Sellers, who played multiple roles in Dr. Strangelove and elsewhere. Murphy has played multiple roles in Coming to America, Wes Craven's Vampire in Brooklyn and the Nutty Professor films (where he played the title role in two incarnations, plus his father, brother, mother, and grandmother).

On December 6, 2013, it was announced that Murphy would star in the fourth film of the Beverly Hills Cop series. Brett Ratner will direct the film, Jerry Bruckheimer is confirmed to produce the film, and Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will write. [Wikipedia]

Steve Martin

Stephen Glenn Martin (born August 14, 1945) is an American actor, comedian, musician, author, screenwriter and film producer.

In the mid-1970s, Martin made frequent appearances as a stand-up comedian on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson and on NBC's Saturday Night Live (SNL). SNL's audience jumped by a million viewers when he made guest appearances though, despite a common misconception, he was never a cast member.

In 1979, Martin co-wrote and starred in The Jerk, directed by Carl Reiner. The movie was a huge success, grossing over $100 million on a budget of approximately $4 million. Martin was in three more Reiner-directed comedies after The Jerk: Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid in 1982, The Man with Two Brains in 1983 and All of Me in 1984.

In 1986, Martin joined fellow Saturday Night Live veterans Martin Short and Chevy Chase in Three Amigos!, directed by John Landis, Martin starred with John Candy in the John Hughes movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles. That same year, Roxanne, the film adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac which Martin co-wrote, won him a Writers Guild of America. It also garnered recognition from Hollywood and the public that he was more than a comedian. In 1988, he performed in the Frank Oz film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a remake of Bedtime Story, alongside Michael Caine.

Moving away from zany comedy Steve Martin has become a successful actor, as well as an author, playwright, pianist and banjo player, eventually earning Emmy, Grammy and American Comedy awards, among other honors.

Martin was awarded an honorary Oscar at the Academy’s 5th Annual Governors Awards in November 2013. (Wikipedia)
